In The Wake Of Lexington’s Storm Of 2015: Solid State Gamer Edition

While Jon was braving the storm last Monday, Matt and Nate had their fun in the snow after it passed. Out at Alex’s (Friend of the show) farmhouse, they goof around in the snow in his custom dune buggy.

Lexington (KY) Snow Storm of 2015: Solid State Gamer Edition

Snow… Snow never changes. On Monday February 16, 2015 there was a snow storm that nearly shut down Lexington, Kentucky. Downtown, for the most part, looked like a ghost town in the in the wake of a post apocalypse. There were a few people who braved the weather to go about their daily routines while others enjoyed the town wide snow day. It was a day of mixed feelings. While some embraced the extraordinary winter wonderland snowfall, many struggled to combat the wrath of mother nature. Jon Rivera from the Solid State Gamer sets out on a small journey, with camera in hand, to document this historic day in Lexington’s history. Please enjoy this candid short silent film that takes Jon from his apartment as he ventures to the downtown and campus areas seeing the struggles of a town unprepared for such conditions, while meeting people along the way. It is not about the end goal; it is about the journey itself.

Because this was shot in such conditions without the use of a steady cam apparatus the image can be shaky at times. Please excuse the guerrilla style cinematography. This is a silent film with music tracks from various video game titles that were made to evoke the feeling of either being in a snowy winter setting or in extraordinary surroundings. All credit for the accompanying music goes to:

1. Metroid Prime – Phendrana Drifts
2. Final Fantasy VII – Buried in Snow
3. Sonic Avdenture – Ice Cap
4. Biohazard 2 (Resident Evil 1.5) – Hungry Dogs
5. Legend of Zelda Sound and Drama – The Lost Woods
6. Fallout – The Glow
7. Mother 3 – Coffee Break
8. Fallout – The Vats of Goo
9. Final Fantasy X – Silence Before the Storm
10. Mirror’s Edge – Ropeburn (Ambience)
11. Enemy Zero – Laura’s Theme
12. Sonic Advance 3 – Twinkle Snow Zone Act 1
13. Mother 3 – Snowman
